If you love to party, to sit and chat, to have a laugh, or to sing at the top of your voice, London is your place. You can experience world-class theatre in the West End; brush shoulders with the cocktailing elite in Shoreditch or try something a little more alternative in Camden. You are going to be surprised by the choices available – and how there is something for everyone; whether you are an introvert or extrovert, cutting edge or more homely.
Clubs and rooftop bars
If you want to party through the night,
dancing to some of the top DJs, then you have plenty of choices. You
could choose Fabric, with its three featured rooms. You will find
electro techno and disco here – though you can experience the
vibrations of drum ‘n’ bass too. Heaven is another option, with
capacity for around 1000 dancers a night. Not only will you enjoy
dancing to best mixes from the top DJs, but you can also experience
live music here.
Fabric and Heaven just skim the surface
of the clubbing experience you could enjoy in London. You can also
choose from Ministry of Sound, Printworks London, Egg London,
Electric Brixton, and Cargo.
However, if all you want to do is sit and drink and admire the view, there are plenty of rooftop bars to while away an evening. One of our favourites, just for the view, is the Montcalm Hotel near Old Street Tube station.
Matched only by Broadway in New York, London’s West End is the premier destination for all the top plays and musicals you could hope to see.
Covent Garden and along Shaftsbury Avenue offer the biggest concentration of singing, dancing and acting talent.
There are booths around London where you can buy last minute tickets to see a production that night – so don’t think you have to plan ahead for your theatre experience.
If you just want a laugh, you can visit a comedy club. There are so many across London that it is difficult to state a preference. You will have heard of The Comedy Store, where some top acts perform. However, you should try The Top-Secret Comedy Club – which is a little hidden away place on Drury Lane. A collection of clubs can be found in the streets around Leicester Square if you want to try your luck and pop in off the street.
Big gigs and intimate jazz clubs
It is the variety in London that we
love so much. There is the Apollo in Hammersmith, the O2 Arena and
Wembley Arena – all offering the biggest gigs you could ever hope
to attend. Every big act in the world will have played one of these
venues in the past few years.
However, if you are more into intimate gigs, you can experience this too. London is famed for its alternative scene – Camden is a great place to explore to find some hidden gem. The jazz clubs are particularly unique in London. You cannot possibly have lived without spending one late night in Ronnie Scott’s – it’s the only route to a complete soul!
